Acceptance into the M.S. and Ph.D. programs is highly competitive. Students accepted into one of the programs will receive a guarantee of two years departmental assistantship support, with an additional two years made available after earning Ph.D. candidacy.

Additional research assistantship support is available from a variety of sources, and is typically merit-based and commensurate with performance. This can be in the form of Research Assistantships from grant-funded faculty, awards from NC A&T, as well as external fellowships and scholarships. By connecting with a potential research advisor before applying you can receive some guidance on specific opportunities.

Nearly 94% of current students receive some form of graduate assistantship and/or tuition waiver.
