Return on Discovery: Unlocking ValueThrough Research Commercialization

On Friday, September 25th, at 11 AM, Prof. Judith Ledlee from the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University will present a seminar titled “Return on Discovery: Unlocking Value Through Research Commercialization” The event will be hosted by Prof. Yirong Mo and held in-person in the JSNN Auditorium.

ABSTRACT: Climate technologies often stall between promising lab results and real-world deployment. This talk maps the technical,
institutional, and market barriers that create that gap; shares lessons from Duke’s Design Climate program; and proposes a
stronger lab-to-market pathway. By connecting faculty, students, and industry partners earlier, we can accelerate the pace of
applied research and help more climate solutions move from proof of concept to meaningful impact.
