Congratulations to Prof. Shyam Aravamudhan from the Department of Nanoengineering for being part of a team that recently received a $10.35 million four-year grant to establish a Center for Electrochemical Dynamics and Reactions on Surfaces (CEDARS) at NC A&T. This new Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy as part of a broad initiative to develop clean energy sources and move towards the goal of having a zero-emission economy by 2050. This is a significant accomplishment since NC A&T is the only historically Black college or university (HBCU) in the country –and the only college in North Carolina– to receive funding to start a new EFRC this year. The CEDARS team, led by Prof. Dhananjay Kumar from NC A&T’s Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, will also strive to enhance diversity, inclusion, and equity by involving high school, undergraduate and graduate students from underrepresented minorities in various aspects of the proposed research.
