New Colleague at JSNN
We welcome Dr. Ralph Rogers to JSNN, who will serve as Interim Special Assistant to the Dean and Acting Chair for the Department of Nanoengineering effective February 1, 2021. Dr. Rogers earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Industrial and Systems Engineering degrees from Ohio University and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. Dr. Rogers held tenured faculty positions at the University of Central Florida, Old Dominion University, East Carolina University, Purdue University Calumet, and Nova Southeastern University. He has also served in university leadership positions at his universities, including department chair, dean, Purdue Calumet, and Nova Southeastern University, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Before his extensive academic career, Dr. Rogers worked as a civilian engineer for the U.S. Navy and senior project engineer for the Booz-Allen Applied Research consulting firm.
Nationally recognized for his research and scholarly work in computer simulation and systems engineering, Dr. Rogers has numerous publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, trade magazines, and over 100 presentations at conferences, assemblies, and public forums. Dr. Rogers has received over $12M in total research awards as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator from sponsors such as The Link Foundation, Concurrent Technologies, the State of Florida, the Virginia Port Authority, British Petroleum, Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army, U.S. Department of Energy, North Carolina Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Education.
