Leaping Forward with NSF
Congratulations to Dr. Suzanne Ahmed from the Department of Nanoscience for receiving a grant from the National Science Foundation’s new Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (LEAPS) program. The award will support Dr. Ahmed’s research on the synthesis of artificial cilia, the hair-like appendages that enable fluid pumping and locomotion in cells and a variety of microorganisms. In addition, the project will provide an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students from underrepresented groups in the sciences to partake in novel interdisciplinary research.
