Training Requirements For Performing Research at JSNN
General
For both regulatory compliance and personnel health and safety purposes, specific safety training modules must be completed before researchers are granted access to labs. JSNN offers a variety of safety training modules for faculty, staff, students, partners, collaborators, and interns working with or around hazardous materials, equipment, and processes. The minimum training requirement at JSNN includes laboratory safety and hazardous waste. Below is a list of the required initial and refresher training modules offered at JSNN. PIs are required to provide and document their internal site, process, equipment, or hazard-specific training and make sure that all researchers review the written safety plan/chemical hygiene plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Lab card access is granted only after successful completion of the required safety training modulus.
Safety Training Calendar
JSNN-ROEHS provides annual lab safety and hazardous waste training sessions, including annual refreshers, for existing and new students. There is also a monthly lab safety and hazardous waste training offered on the first Friday of each month at 1:00-2:30 p.m. Researchers can sign in for the monthly training sessions using this Google form.
All other training requests can be submitted directly to ROEHS (mhfahim@uncg.edu)
